On April 7, 2010 the Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law Student Animal Legal Defense Fund will hold an event entitled "The Many Species of Animal Law." Bruce Wagman, chief outside litigation counsel for the Animal Legal Defense Fund and author of a casebook on animal law, will discuss aspects of animal law and cases he has handled.

On October 6, 2009 PETA's Alka Chandna held a discussion discussing the ethics of animal testing at New York University. The event was sponsored by Cruelty-Free NYU and the NYU Law SALDF. George Washington University Law School Animal Cruelty/Animal Fighting Training Conference
On September 24 and 25, 2009 the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, in partnership with the Animal Welfare Institute, hosted an Animal Cruelty/Animal Fighting Training Conference for prosecutors and law enforcement. The conference was at the George Washington University Law School and CLE credit was available.
Steve Best, Gary Francione to Debate Animal Rights
On September 18, 2009 Dr. Steven Best an Associate Professor of Humanities and Philosophy at the University of Texas, El Paso participated in a debate with Prof. Gary L. Francione a Distinguished Professor of Law and Nicholas deB. Katzenbach Scholar of Law & Philosophy at Rutgers School of Law-Newark. Lewis & Clark Law School Symposium on the Science, Ethics, and Law of Animal Testing
On Saturday, September 12, 2009 the Lewis & Clark Law School held a daylong symposium titled "The Science, Ethics, and Law of Animal Testing in the 21st Century - Are We on the Verge of a Paradigm Shift?" The event was free to the public (registration required). On December 31, 2008 the University of Quebec in Montreal and the International Research Group in Animal Law hosted the 1st International Animal Law Conference in Canada titled, The animal, within the sphere of humans' needs.

Peter Young, the first person convicted of Animal Enterprise Terrorism, presented a speech about animal rights activism.

On April 6, 2008 the Fordham Law School Moot Court competition was held. In the competition the laws students presented arguments about whether the Animal Enterprise Protection Act is constitutional, and whether companion animals are considered "property" for purposes of apply the state larceny statute.

On April 4, 2008 the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund held a workshop entitled, Political Animal Workshop: Leveraging State Ballot Initiatives to Ease Animal Suffering. The workshop explored the ballot initiative process, how to craft language to avoid court challenges, and the intersection of ballot initiatives with the legislative process.
